Storage Servers
Companies collect data. As storage prices drop and companies adopt new technologies, their requirements for data storage continues upwards.
Most recently, companies are acquiring more storage space for disaster recovery. A task once delegated to tape, companies are now using Storage Area Networks (SANs) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices to archive data more frequently. Tapes were unreliable and difficult to restore from, but online storage devices allow near immediate restoration of data. With the falling price of storage, companies are now backing up images of servers and important workstations. Again, this facilitates better disaster recovery.
GearyTech utilizes storage servers for disaster recovery and various other storage requirements. The storage landscape is ever changing, but here are a few of the items we can provide for you now

![]() The Intel S4000 NAS is a great example of an inexpensive NAS device. With 4 hot-swap SATAII hard drive bays, an internal RAID system and gigabit Ethernet, this product works very well for companies with moderate storage requirements. We deploy devices like this to store local backups of servers and workstations. These devices can also be used to provide additional file storage for high volume departments - just make sure you have a good backup strategy! |

![]() LinkSys now manufacturers a line of "bare bones" NAS devices in a rack mount configuration. Buying just the shell allows us to configure the device with the amount of storage and features required for the job. These devices can be used for backups, FTP servers, department storage and more. |
